Visiting the town

Luang Prabang is the 3rd largest city in Laos, with over 30 000 inhabitants. Its rich architecture, its religious standing, its ethnic mixtures and its eventful history make it one of the main attractions in South-East Asia.

We have gathered a certain number of elements in this section so that any visitors may familiarise themselves with the area.

The ethnologic museum of TAEC
Since 2006, the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre has been a private non-profit making museum devoted to the different ethnical groups in Laos.
Situated in a historical building, protected by UNESCO, the permanent exhibition that the museum offers to the public shows items of ethnic clothing, religious artefacts, working tools ... Its intention is to increase understanding of the different ways of life and the traditions of different ethnical groups in Laos.
The Centre offers certain items for sale, books, photos, and local craftsmanship. There is also a restaurant "The Patio Café" (...)

Pétanque in Luang Prabang
As soon as you start walking around this provincial village, you can’t help but be surprised by the number of pétanque sites (a form of bowling) all along the banks of the Mekong. Along with badminton and « katho », which is a sort of volley-ball, played using your feet, pétanque is one of the national sports which is played all over Laos as well as in Issan, the old part of Laos to the North-East of Thailand.
